Kids' activities website
Giving kids something constructive,
fun and safe to do on a 'rainy day' was the motivation
behind this mini-site on the Meadow Fresh main site.
Families are at the heart of the Meadow Fresh brand
and these online activities provide plenty to do in
a family environment.

Stuff for Parents
This is a very important section
of any kids' website. Note that we state our own policy
but also give parents some other websites for reference.

Have a surf through the site.
Things to note:
- Use of sound to complement actions.
- Lots of interactivity.
- Activities for all ages, but
we did envisage a fair amount of parental help.
- Characters have humour and are
highly loveable.
- Use of larger font than on the
rest of the site.

Promotional webite: Seedling
Swap
Meadow Fresh is a brand that really
cares about the environment. To date they have provided
more than 120,000 native seedlings for kiwi kids to
plant through their annual Seedling Swap activity. The
Seedling Swap website provides details of the promotion
online and it goes one further by giving kids an environmental
learning game which is a great deal of fun. Here are
some of the site details:

Home Page
- Fun Flash introduction grabs
attention with a bit of humour. Kids love to be entertained.
Note the challenge contained in the words 'your mission'.
- This is a site where we envisage
a good degree of parental involvement and unlike Rainy
Day, it is written at a more adult level.
- It's important to have a Parent's
section on any kids website setting out your site's
policy and privacy guidelines.

How it Works
- Simple clear instructions. Believe
it or not, kids do like instructions especially ones
that make it very clear exactly what they have to
do - almost like a checklist.

Dr Trehugger's Island Mission
- This is the highpoint of the
site and is an excellent mixture of education and
entertainment. Kids do love games - and parents like
games where their kids learn something.

From Moo to You
- A visually interactive tour through
the process of making milk. This piece gives the characters
plenty of life and personality and will create an
affectionate response in its young readers to the
Meadow Fresh brand.
- The piece is designed to give
kids an 'active' read with small blocks of copy, directional
arrows and bright pull-outs.

Growth Chart
- Kids love knowing how much they've
grown, and the calcium from milk is a huge contributor
to that healthy growth. A growth chart is therefore
a good fit for Meadow Fresh.
- This chart also brings the Meadow
Fresh kids - Jess and Ollie (Spark the dog was too
small to reach) - into the children's lives.

Dr Trehugger's Island Game Poster
- We'd done a good job of providing
this educational conservation game online, but thought
it was also important to have something for reference
in the classroom. A poster was born.

Fridge Monsters
- The fridge monsters were designed
as a printable activity. They encourage 7-12 year
olds to have creative fun while re-using what would
otherwise be rubbish.

Fridge Monster Masks
- The Meadow Fresh 2 litre bottles
are the perfect shape to cut into face-masks which
you can then paint and decorate with Fridge Monster
bits 'n' pieces to create a real frightener. We have
to admit that this idea actually came from Maddie,
the daughter of one of our designers, Brian.

- With a small amount of adjustment
we took the flash movie we had created online and
created a TVC. Not only highly cost effective, but
also gave great brand continuity on- and off- line.
- My daughter certainly got a
great deal of pleasure in seeing the character on
TV and saying to her friends 'look what mummy did!'
- if only I was that talented. Jason, Ali & Robsta
take a bow here.
